Mrs. Eliza K. Fikes died Sunday at the Kalamazoo asylum where she had been taken but a few days before.Mrs. Fikes was an old resident of Berrien Springs and leaves many friends and relatives here.She was a sister of Mrs. Mary Hadlock.Funeral services was held at Morris chapel on Tuesday.
Born June 28,1840 in Ohio,daughter of Peter and Sarah Concannon Schnorf,married James M. Taylor abt 1860 in Niles.Children:Arvil David Taylor,Rosa Taylor Mathews.Married Jacob Fikes on Feb.3,1878 .She died April 18,1920 in Kalamazoo

Frucci, Annita Vannozzi
Mrs Annita Vannozzi Frucci 88 years - passed away Christmas Eve- Dec. 24th, 1971 in Niles, MI. She was born 13 Oct 1883 in Florence, Italy. In 1899 she emigrated with her family and settled in Iron Mt. MI. There she met and married Rosario Frucci in 1901. They became the parents of eleven children. Her parents and siblings would return to Italy. Rosario and Annita would later move to Crystal Falls, MI In 1917 they would relocate to Niles, MI in an area known to the locals as Dickereel where many other Italian and German families had settled. She was a marvelous cook and designed many beautiful crocheted items till her passing. She is survived by six sons - Dominick, Bruno, Frank, Anthony, Victor and John. Also two daughters, Theresa (Tillie) Olinger and Veronica (Ronnie) Marrandino. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1941, daughter - Frances Mary Knezevich and an infant son - Veto. Left to cherish her memory are 31 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Services will be held at St.Mary's Church - burial in Calvary Cemetery, Niles, MI.

Rossi Frucci, 68, EX-Railman Dies. Rossi (Rosario) Frucci retired railroad man died 07 July 1941 in Niles, MI. He was born 17 Oct 1873 in Filadelfia, Calabria, Italy, He arrived in the US at Ellis Island 07 May 1896 . He would work for a time in the cotton fields in the South - not liking the heat - he joined other Italians in Upper Michigan - working in the Iron Mines in Iron Mt. and Crystal Falls. He met and married Annita Vannozzi . They would become the parents of eleven children. In 1917 they located to Niles, MI. Joining many family members who had also emigrated to Niles from Italy. Rosario would work at the Towar Cotton Mill and the Steam Railroad. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, flower gardening and making wine. He is survived by his wife of forty years and seven sons - Dominick, Lawrence, Frank, Tony, Bruno, Victor and John. Also three daughters - Theresa (Tillie) Olinger, Veronica (Ronnie) Marrandino, and Frances Mary Knezevich. Two brothers in Italy - Frank and Dominick. The body will be taken to the home at 1007 Dulin Lane where friends may call. Requiem High Mass will be observed at St.Mary's Church - the Father Joseph Rochford officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Niles, MI.
